Holbrook Schools View

Good afternoon from the Holbrook Public Schools,

I am reaching out to inform parents and guardians of HUSD #3’s response to the potential threat of the Coronavirus.

The impact of the Coronavirus is very fluid and new developments are being communicated each day.

Yesterday, Thursday, March 12th, Governor Ducey, State Superintendent Hoffman and Arizona Department of Health Services Executive Dr. Christ held a conference call to outline the impact of Coronavirus on public school systems.

The information communicated during that conference call can be found on our district website.

To summarize:

=       They have identified 9 cases of Coronavirus in Arizona with 2 confirmed and 7 pending thus far.

=       Dr. Christ, Supt. Hoffman and Governor Ducey are not recommending school closures at this time but are monitoring the situation.

=       Health recommendations include “social distancing” which means to stay away from large crowds and avoid close contact with people within a group.

HUSD #3 will continue to communicate with county and state agencies to stay abreast of the impact of Coronavirus throughout the State of Arizona.

As you are aware, HUSD #3 began spring break this afternoon.  Our plans are to thoroughly sanitize our buildings, buses and other facilities to ensure we maintain a healthy environment.

In addition, will continue to analyze ongoing information to make informed decisions pertaining to the return to school on March 23rd. We expect to make a decision by Thursday, March 19th.  More information will be sent to parents after a decision is made.

In the meantime, we ask that parents monitor their children’s health.  If your child becomes ill, please call the school to notify us about the symptoms that your child is experiencing.  You may call or email your child’s school or call the District Office at (928) 524-6144.  Self-reporting illness is critical to ensuring everyone stays healthy.

If you are traveling over break, please be aware of travel restrictions and group exposure.  Upon returning to school we will have tighter restrictions for student attendance if they demonstrate signs of illness.

Finally, we have cancelled or postponed any out of district travel, activities, practices, etc. until school resumes.  Please plan accordingly.

We feel confident that HUSD #3 is addressing this matter in a proactive manner and is keeping student, staff and community health at the heart of our decisions.

Questions pertaining to school operations and student information can be addressed via email or phone at [email protected] or (928) 524-6144.

We appreciate our partnership with parents to keep Holbrook healthy and we wish everyone a restful spring break!

Thank you for being involved in your children’s education and thank you for being Roadrunners!
