Celebrating Our Rich Roadrunner Heritage & Wishing HUSD a Restful Fall Break!
As Fall Break begins, we wish all of our Roadrunners a safe, restful, and rejuvenating break.
Today, we also extend a warm and respectful Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day to our entire HUSD family!
As we reflect on our shared commitment to Helping Unique Students Develop, we proudly honor the rich heritage, strong culture, and unique contributions of the more than 1,200 Native American students who choose to be HUSD #3 Roadrunners!
HUSD #3 is uniquely enriched by students and staff representing numerous tribal nations, including the Apache Tribe of Oklahoma, Assiniboine & Sioux Tribes of Fort Peck, The Cheyenne & Arapaho Tribes, Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, Gila River Indian Community, Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, Haudenosaunee Confederacy (Iroquois), The Hopi Tribe, Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma, Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians, Navajo Nation, Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma, Pueblo of Jemez, Pueblo of Laguna, Pueblo of Zuni, Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, San Carlos Apache Tribe, Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate, Tohono O'odham Nation, White Mountain Apache Tribe, Yavapai-Apache Nation, as well as our Hawaiian and Filipino relatives, among many others.
Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15th through October 15th, give us the opportunity to celebrate the 366 Hispanic families that choose to be Roadrunners! HUSD #3 would like to recognize our multi-generational Mexican-American families whose ancestral ties, rich cultural traditions, and centuries of history in Holbrook and Northern Arizona remain a vital part of our community’s story.
Finally, we celebrate ALL Roadrunners for the putting the "U" in HUSD #3! We are inspired by the rich cultures, diversity and the bond that we all share as Roadrunners! As we say, "Once A Roadrunner, Always a Roadrunner!"

Thank you so much for helping us make Grandparents Day such a wonderful success! We greatly appreciate you communicating with grandparents, inviting them to attend, and helping us welcome so many special visitors into our schools today.
We had an amazing turnout with 90 grandparents at Park Elementary and 180 grandparents at Hulet Elementary! That is 270 grandparents who joined us to spend time with their grandchildren and experience a little bit of what makes our schools so special.
We were especially excited to see our attendance grow from last year. Last year, we welcomed 85 grandparents at Park and 109 at Hulet, so this year’s turnout was a wonderful increase—especially at Hulet!
We loved seeing our students share their classrooms, teachers, and school with their grandparents. Thank you to all of our grandparents who took the time to join us and to our families for helping make this special day possible.
