Thank you for giving generously — together, we can make a big impact!

At Park and Hulet Elementary, we’re passionate about helping our youngest learners build a strong foundation in reading and writing — and our Fundations phonics program is a key part of that success! 📚✨
Fundations is a structured literacy program for Pre-K through third grade that provides explicit, systematic instruction in foundational reading and spelling skills. Developed by Wilson Language Training, it uses a multisensory approach to teach critical concepts like phonemic awareness, phonics, word structure, spelling, and handwriting.
💡 Key Components of Fundations:
🎧 Phonemic Awareness: Students learn to hear and manipulate individual sounds in spoken words.
🔠 Phonics & Word Study: Explicit instruction on letter-sound relationships, digraphs, blends, syllable types, and reading strategies.
✏️ Spelling: Students learn to segment and spell words using phonics patterns and high-frequency words.
🖋️ Handwriting: Teaches proper letter formation for both manuscript and cursive writing.
📖 Fluency & Comprehension: Builds fluency and introduces comprehension strategies like visualization and retelling.
🧩 How We Implement Fundations:
👩🏫 Tier 1 Instruction: Used daily with the whole class to give every student a strong start in literacy.
👥 Tier 2 Support: Small-group instruction helps reinforce and strengthen skills for students who need extra practice.
🕐 Daily Lessons: Short, engaging sessions combine teacher-led instruction with hands-on, multisensory activities.
📊 Assessment: Teachers use progress checks to monitor growth and ensure every student’s success.
We’re proud to celebrate programs like Fundations during Love Our Schools Week — because when we build a solid foundation in reading, we’re setting our students up for lifelong success! 💙✨

At Park and Hulet Elementary, we believe in inspiring a love for the arts from an early age — and our music programs do just that! 🎵
Starting in kindergarten, students enjoy music classes twice a week, where they learn rhythm, melody, movement, and the joy of making music together. As they grow, that love for music continues to flourish!
Beginning in second grade through fifth grade, students can take their passion even further by joining our Rockin’ Roadrunners — an after-school program that brings together singing, dancing, acting, and instrumental performance. 🎤🎸💃
This talented group meets once a week in the fall and shares their hard work and talent through performances at community events such as the Navajo County Fair, Festival of Trees, and more! 🌟 In the spring, they shine even brighter by putting on a full musical performance for our schools and community! 🎭
We’re proud to celebrate programs like these during Love Our Schools Week — because music brings joy, confidence, and connection to our students every day! 💛💙

One of the many reasons we ❤️ our schools is because of our commitment to PBIS – Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports!
PBIS is an evidence-based, tiered framework that helps improve students’ academic, behavioral, social, and emotional outcomes. Through PBIS, we focus on reinforcing positive behaviors and recognizing students who model The Roadrunner Way — being Respectful, Responsible, Safe, and Kind!
💛 Beep Beepers:
When students are caught showing positive behaviors, they can earn a Beep Beeper and are recognized immediately for their great choices!
🏅 Rewards and Recognition:
Beep Beepers go into drawings for multiple recognition opportunities —
✨ During daily announcements (small prizes)
✨ At quarterly honors assemblies (bigger prizes)
✨ And at the end of the year, where students can win grand prizes like bikes, scooters, and more!
🔄 Learning and Growth:
If students need a reminder about expectations, they may receive a Beeper Reset or Office Referral — giving us a chance to reteach and reinforce the desired behaviors.
Through PBIS, we build a school culture where positive behavior is celebrated and students feel seen, supported, and encouraged to shine. 💫

📈 Success in Community Engagement
We've been strategically focused on building stronger, more authentic connections with the communities we serve. Thanks to successful family/community events, like a reading night at Park and our highly attended Native Education Summit, we've seen a significant increase in engagement! As we celebrate Love Our Schools Week, we are beyond proud to share that our number one reason for loving our schools — both Park and Hulet — is because of our incredible students and staff! ❤️
Every day, our students and staff work tirelessly to ensure our schools are places where we are respectful, responsible, safe, and kind. They show growth and progress in their learning, and it shows in everything they do.
We are thrilled to announce that Park and Hulet have officially earned the label of a B School by the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) based on our AASA scores for the 2024-2025 school year! 🎉 This is a huge improvement from our C rating in 2023-2024, and we couldn’t be more proud!
This success didn’t come by accident — our dedicated staff focused on essential standards and worked hard to meet each student’s individual needs, while our students showed perseverance, hard work, and determination to demonstrate growth and proficiency.
Thank you, staff and students, for being the BEST! 👏 You are the heart of what makes our schools so special, and you are the reason we LOVE OUR SCHOOLS! 🏫💙

At Park and Hulet Elementary, we believe in supporting every student’s journey to success — and our Power of 5 program is one of the ways we make that happen!
💪 What is Power of 5?
Power of 5 is an after-school tutorial program where dedicated teachers work closely with small groups of 5–7 students. This focused time allows us to provide extra support through our district’s PASS Plan, which stands for:
✨ Personal
📚 Academic
💬 Social
🏆 Success
🗓️ The program typically runs from October through April and is by invitation to students who would benefit from additional support in these areas.
Through Power of 5, students build confidence, strengthen academic skills, and grow socially — all while being personally supported by caring educators who believe in their potential. 💙
💖 As we celebrate Love Our School Week, we’re proud to highlight Power of 5 — one of the many amazing programs that make Park and Hulet a place where students thrive, grow, and are loved every day!
