Celebrating Our Rich Roadrunner Heritage & Wishing HUSD a Restful Fall Break!
As Fall Break begins, we wish all of our Roadrunners a safe, restful, and rejuvenating break.
Today, we also extend a warm and respectful Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day to our entire HUSD family!
As we reflect on our shared commitment to Helping Unique Students Develop, we proudly honor the rich heritage, strong culture, and unique contributions of the more than 1,200 Native American students who choose to be HUSD #3 Roadrunners!
HUSD #3 is uniquely enriched by students and staff representing numerous tribal nations, including the Apache Tribe of Oklahoma, Assiniboine & Sioux Tribes of Fort Peck, The Cheyenne & Arapaho Tribes, Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, Gila River Indian Community, Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, Haudenosaunee Confederacy (Iroquois), The Hopi Tribe, Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma, Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians, Navajo Nation, Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma, Pueblo of Jemez, Pueblo of Laguna, Pueblo of Zuni, Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, San Carlos Apache Tribe, Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate, Tohono O'odham Nation, White Mountain Apache Tribe, Yavapai-Apache Nation, as well as our Hawaiian and Filipino relatives, among many others.
Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15th through October 15th, give us the opportunity to celebrate the 366 Hispanic families that choose to be Roadrunners! HUSD #3 would like to recognize our multi-generational Mexican-American families whose ancestral ties, rich cultural traditions, and centuries of history in Holbrook and Northern Arizona remain a vital part of our community’s story.
Finally, we celebrate ALL Roadrunners for the putting the "U" in HUSD #3! We are inspired by the rich cultures, diversity and the bond that we all share as Roadrunners! As we say, "Once A Roadrunner, Always a Roadrunner!"

Due to rain and muddy conditions, all after-school activities, including games and practices, are canceled today, Monday, September 28, and tomorrow, Tuesday, September 29. Students will be dismissed at the regular time of 3:30 p.m. on both days.

Dear Roadrunner Families,
Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, Arizona’s new Healthy Schools Act (HB 2164) changes the types of foods and beverages that may be served or provided to students during the school day.
The law prohibits certain ingredients, including Red 40, Red 3, Yellow 5, Yellow 6, Blue 1, Blue 2, Green 3, and several other specified additives. Because of this new law, you may notice changes to school-provided snacks, treats, classroom celebrations, rewards, and other food items.
What does this mean for birthday/holiday treats?
Parents may still send food from home for their own child, even if that food contains one of the ingredients listed in HB 2164.
However, birthday treats or snacks brought to school to be shared with the entire class will need to meet the new food requirements. This means that many traditional birthday treats, such as candies, cupcakes, cookies, or drinks, may no longer be appropriate for classroom distribution if they contain one of the prohibited ingredients.
If you would like to send a birthday/holiday treat for your child's class, please check with your child's teacher or the school before purchasing or sending treats so we can help ensure the item meets the new requirements.
We know birthday and holiday celebrations are special, and we still want our Roadrunners to be celebrated!
