The Phenix School was started in the fall of 1997 as an alternative means of education for students who, for various reasons, we're unable to continue at the main campus of Holbrook High School. In the spring of 1998 students were asked to name the new program. The "Phenix School" was chosen as the school's name. The "o" was dropped in order to avoid any association with the city of Phoenix.
