Don’t forget to bring the whole family and join us for the final night of our musical Willy Wonka! The show is free and begins at 6:00 PM at the GGPAC. You won’t be disappointed. Our students have put in a tremendous amount of hard work to make this a truly fabulous production, and it’s a great opportunity to come out and support them.

Today, 34 of our students had an incredible opportunity to participate in an immersive “Game Day” experience hosted by the American Council of Engineering Companies at Northern Arizona University.
During this STEM-focused experience, students toured the football stadium and explored the innovative engineering behind its design and construction. They gained valuable insight into the wide range of STEM careers involved in bringing a “Game Day” to life at NAU—from structural design to operations and technology.
This was a meaningful, real-world learning experience that helped connect classroom learning to future career pathways.
A big thank you to Ms. Jimenez for organizing this opportunity and to Ms. Estridge for supporting our students as a sponsor.

Mrs. Visser’s 7th grade English classes recently explored blackout poetry, and the students did an excellent job. She consistently finds creative ways to engage learners through a variety of activities while still meeting state ELA standards.
Blackout poetry is a form of found poetry in which a writer uses an existing text, such as a newspaper, book page, or article, and blacks out most of the words, leaving only selected ones visible to create a new poem. It is both a literary and visual art form that transforms existing text into a new and often meaningful message.

Parents, a huge thank you to you and your student. We had outstanding attendance during last week’s AASA testing sessions with only a handful of students absent. Those students will be completing make up testing this week, and we are continuing to celebrate those who showed up and showed out by drawing names for exciting incentives.
We are incredibly proud of our students and our families for partnering with us and making attendance a priority. This kind of teamwork is what drives success, and it truly shows.
We look forward to receiving the results of the assessments we just completed at the end of June and celebrating the success that comes from your continued support.
Let’s keep the momentum going strong as we get ready for our final Performance Matters Benchmarks for the year. These will take place at the end of April and the first week in May. Your student should have these dates written in their planner.

This week at our recent school board meeting, two of our outstanding programs took center stage: Student Council and AVID.
Our Student Council did an exceptional job representing our junior high and sharing the many positive things happening on campus with our governing board members. Their leadership, pride, and commitment to our school community were clearly on display.
Our AVID students also delivered a powerful presentation, each sharing how the AVID program has made an impact on them both academically and personally. Their reflections showed growth, confidence, and a strong focus on college and career readiness.
We are incredibly proud of all of our students for the way they represented our school. Thank you to Ms. Jimenez for her dedication and for working closely with both groups to help them shine.

Our 6th graders, the Class of 2032, are absolutely rocking it at school! They had the highest attendance percentage across all grade levels during all three state assessments, outperforming both the 7th and 8th graders.
Today, they showed that same energy and unity at our Student Council class games. Students and teachers proudly wore red shirts and created signs to support their class. Even as a smaller group, their class chant was loud, proud, and impossible to miss!
Way to go, Class of 2032—your teamwork and school spirit are shining bright!

Earlier this season, our 8th grade girls basketball team made a deal with Mr. McDaniel, our 8th grade Pre-Algebra teacher: if they won the White Mountain League, they could shave his head. True to his word, he agreed—and our girls delivered!
Today, during our student council class games, the entire school gathered to watch the big event as the team proudly shaved Mr. McDaniel’s head. The energy, laughter, and school spirit in the room were unforgettable.
Thank you, Mr. McDaniel, for being such an incredible sport and for always going above and beyond to support and motivate our students. That kind of commitment is what makes our school so special.
And wow… we didn’t realize you had that much hair!

Congratulations to our track team today! Our girls team placed runner-up out of 14 schools—an outstanding accomplishment. Great job at the Window Rock Invitational!

We had a great day for attendance. Let’s try to beat our percentages tomorrow as we take Part II of AASA ELA and Math. Remember to get plenty of sleep and eat a good breakfast.
Parents, thank you for getting your students to school on these important days. Students, teachers, and families make a great team!

Parents, tomorrow morning starts our 6th through 8th grade Arizona Academic Standards Assessment in ELA and Math. We will be testing on both April 14th and 15th. This is an important opportunity for students to show what they have learned and demonstrate their growth.
Please help set your student up for success by ensuring they arrive at school on time and remain for the full testing session. When students arrive late or are checked out early, they may need to test in a different environment, which can impact their comfort and performance.
A good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast, whether at home or at school, will help students do their very best.
Thank you for your continued support in helping our students feel confident, prepared, and ready to succeed.
