Today, HJHS welcomed the Indian Wells 6th graders on campus for a "Bridge to Success" transition/orientation day.
The students were led by student council members, Jaken Begay and Mackenzie Kescoli. They toured the campus and visited classes, learned what it means to be in junior high, learned about being an AVID student and got some of their questions answered. They heard all about the elective opportunities, visited elective classes and even signed up for their elective choices for next year. The students joined the HJHS 6th graders for lunch and spent social time with other HJHS students. It was a great day for IWES students.
We are looking forward to seeing them back on campus as 7th graders in August.

Let's Celebrate the students of HJHS! End of the year awards assembly is only one week away. We hope you can join us.

Lots of great learning opportunities going on at HJHS; Learning The Roadrunner Way!
8th graders had a visit by their freshman academic advisor where she walked them through a class pre-registration process, the 8th grade social studies classes are creating their own countries and connecting it to all their quarter 4 learning, 7th grade science is engaging in hands on experiments, Health/Wellness class is applying math while creating healthy eating recipes and testing them out, and 6th grade science taking learning and application outside.

HJHS! Chromebook Return Next Week! Monday, May 12th-May 14th HJHS will be collecting at-home Chromebooks. Students will need to return their case with their Chromebook and Charger.

How many people does it take to run a zoo? HJHS AVID 8th graders got an inside view from a different perspective. A zoo instructor led the group in discussions and an activity, while exploring some of the jobs necessary to run a successful zoo and conservation program. Students discovered the importance of the Phoenix Zoo’s role in conservation while uncovering STEM career opportunities along the way.
After the Zoo the students made their way to ASU for college exposure, building college readiness skills and to promote academic inspiration.
