Quarter 1 is Quickly Wrapping Up! Last day for Q1 late/missing/make-up work to be accepted is October 4th. Final Quarter 1 grades will post on October 11th. HJHS is reminding students daily through morning announcements and in their classrooms to get any work turned in ASAP and before the final acceptance date.

HJHS is Proud of Emily Sanchez! Emily was nominated as an eighth grader and then chosen as the "Arizona Department of Education Student of the Month" for September of this year, her freshman year. Emily was recognized and honored at the ADE September Board Meeting where she and her mother joined virtually this morning. Emily is the epitome of a great leader with a service oriented nature. She gives selflessly of herself and her time to serve others. Emily is an exemplary student and a top notch student athlete. Emily is also a positive example for treating others with kindness and respect. Emily demonstrates what it means to do things the Roadrunner Way! Way to Go Emily!
This morning, APS surprised HJHS teacher, Miss Karen Estridge as a recent winner of their “Supply My Classroom” program. HJHS hosted the Reservation All-Stars for an engaging, high energy and overall amazing assembly today. The Reservation All-Stars are Native Country's first-ever showtime entertainment basketball team showcasing an array of tricks, high-flying dunks, and jaw-dropping alley-oops while delivering powerful messages for students. Today, the All-Stars spoke about the importance of school-including attendance, the importance of never giving up and what it means to stand against bullying-including telling an adult. Our students were positive and ultimately participated in creating a stronger school community!

During Registration, if you indicated your child needed an at-home device we will be checking out and sending a Chromebook home with them today, Tuesday, Sept. 17th (6th Grade). The Chromebook will come with a charger and carrying case. This device is for educational purposes and is to be kept at home. Students will not bring it back and forth to school. Devices will be turned in at the end of the school year. Students and parents are responsible for the care of their at-home device.
