HJHS Loves Our Community!
Holbrook Junior High School engaged in a Community and Family Engagement (CAFE) activity today! Holbrook Mayor, Kathleen Smith, hosted a "Mayoral Forum" teaching HJHS youth how our community and city council functions. Students learned about leadership skills, hard skills vs soft skills, what the council has control over or doesn't and how they-themselves can have their voice heard and make a difference in their community; as well as honoring the "Mayor for the Day", 7th Grader Rylie Patterson.
**Mayor Rylie and her own city council members hosted a "call to the public" session where some of our students spoke about their "concerns/asks".**
The "Love Our Community" morning concluded with a "S. W. O. T Visioning Session" where a group of HJHS students engaged in focusing on Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats to share with the Holbrook City Council.
**It was a successful morning of connecting our youth with our community! THANK YOU to Holbrook Mayor Smith, Linda Kor, Talaiina Kor and the students of HJHS!**

Congrats to a Madison Chappell (Class of 2020) for graduating with a degree in Sports and Exercise Science from Park University!
Way to go!
When One Roadrunner Succeeds, We All Succeed!

AVID elective students traveled to Flagstaff for a College and Career day. At the Lowell Observatory, students were given a behind the scenes view of the inner workings of the Observatory. Additionally, they had a science lesson on how chemicals and the light spectrum led to the discovery of what planets and stars are made of. The guides discussed these discoveries along with careers associated with Lowell Observatory. At NAU, students went on a self-guided scavenger hunt on the campus and learned about various career opportunities through studies at NAU.

HJHS Reminder: LOVE OUR COMMUNITY through participation in the Holbrook Community Clean Up Event tomorrow, Saturday, April 20th.
Bonus: Students can earn Positive Behavior Points for their service: https://drive.google.com/file/d/10dcXLse_vw-BI7IoCAZ1sIXmOCV2dmJJ/view?usp=sharing
