Today, around 11 am, HUSD will celebrate the valor of our American Veterans as hundreds of Veteran motorcyclists travel down Buffalo Street on their annual cross-country ‘Run for the Wall’. There will be a police escort and traffic around schools will be limited for about a half-hour! This is an amazing event to recognize our Veterans. We invite the public to join us! Please avoid parking or driving down Buffalo Street during this time! The Veterans will be served lunch at the American Legion! Thank you Veterans!

HJHS! The IWES 6th graders attended HJHS for their "transition into junior high day" today. The IWES students got to visit classrooms, learn more about HJHS, learn all about AVID, hear some advice on how to be successful from other HJHS students, listen to student council speeches and participate in voting for the 24-25 SY officers, enjoy lunchtime with the other HJHS students and they even got to make their elective choices for their first semester of 7th grade. It was a good day for IWES as they are preparing to become 7th graders at HJHS.

Today, HJHS welcomed the Hulet 5th graders on campus to meet the teachers, tour the campus, learn about what it means to be in junior high and get some of their questions answered. Their biggest excitement seemed to be around the Roost, Jr. (Snack Bar) and being allowed to eat their lunches outside. The visiting 5th graders were Respectful, Responsible and Reliably Safe. We are looking forward to seeing them back on campus as 6th graders in August.
