HJHS Reminder—Summer Volleyball Camp! Incoming 6th, 7th and 8th grade students are invited to attend the HJHS Summer Volleyball Skills Camp this week, June 20th-23rd from 8:00am-11:30am in the gym. HJHS! Summer Math~~Creative and Yummy! Our summer school math students are deepening their understanding of Probability, Ratios, Fractions, and Percent with creative graphing activities as well as connecting these math skills to real life application such as creating and using recipes for making banana bread, cookies, and smoothies. Way to Make Math Relevant, Miss LaRose!

HJHS! Social-Emotional Learning over Summer Break~~ This summer we are offering Social/Emotional Learning Groups with our Licensed Clinical Therapist, Ms. Heather, at the Holbrook Junior High School. This is open to all HJHS incoming 6th, 7th, 8th and outgoing 8th grade (going into 9th) students on Mondays-Thursdays between 8:00am-12:00pm. Students are welcome to come for the full morning or anytime during those hours. Students should plan to meet outside of the counselor's office. Students will have the ability to learn and participate in group activities teaching and discussing topics such as friendship, boundaries, emotional intelligence, self-esteem, anger management, and anxiety management and coping skills. Students will be taught to run and participate in peer groups focusing on anxiety/depression and grief & loss which will continue into the upcoming school year. Individual counseling sessions for students will also be available during this time to help support students in whatever they are needing or with situations they may be experiencing. We are excited about this opportunity and look forward to working with our students to help them continue to progress during their summer break. HJHS Summer Basketball Camp! Incoming 6th, 7th and 8th grade students are invited to attend the HJHS Summer Basketball Skills Camp next week, June 13th-16th from 8:00am-12:00pm in the gym. Players will need appropriate shoes and should bring a water bottle.

Congratulations to 8th grade student, Landen Brown, on being selected for the ASU 2022 INSPIRE summer program. Landen will spend a week as an ASU residential student learning about and expanding on his college-readiness skills, including developing academic and personal success behaviors through culturally-relevant, project-based learning. Way to Go, Landen! All of us at HJHS are proud of your achievement and commitment to success. We know you will learn a lot that will carry you into high school and beyond!

HJHS! Does your child need extra support with their math skills? We have the summer support needed. Miss LaRose is offering math summer school opportunities. Students can work on sharpening their math skills through hands-on exploratory opportunities. Breakfast (7:45am) and/or lunch (11:45pm) is being served on campus as well. We have a summer transportation bus that travels to and from Indian Wells Elementary School Monday-Thursday, too. Looking for additional positive summer opportunities? The Holbrook Public Library has “Oceans of Possibilities” with various activities on targeted dates from June 2nd through July 29th.

HJHS 8th Graders! Wednesday, May 25th: Promotion Practice will include a walkthrough at Roadrunner Stadium. We are expecting nothing but sunshine. Students are encouraged to wear sunscreen. Also, hats for outside practice is a good idea. Students will not wear hats during indoor promotion practice or during the ceremony but suggested for outside walkthrough practice. Most of our practice time will be conducted indoors but students will most likely be on the field at Roadrunner Stadium for about an hour. A water bottle is also encouraged as we are expecting temps in the 80's on Wednesday. We are looking forward to a successful Promotion Ceremony (Thursday).

HJHS! The students of HJHS had a great afternoon engaging in the Spring Fling (Field Day) Activities organized by our Student Council. Students played games including water balloon toss, tug-o-war, three legged races, calk walk, and much more. Thank you Student Council for a job well done!
