IWES teacher, Bernice Gover, is in Oklahoma at the Nation Indian Education Association conference speaking in front of 2,000 educators and leaders as part of her nomination to serve on the NIEA Board as a student representative as part of her Master's in Educational Leadership Program through Northern Arizona University! Hwy 77 Road Closure Impacting Bussing and Staff Travel The Arizona Department of Transportation is advising motorists to plan for a scheduled four-day closure of SR 77 (Navajo Boulevard) at the railroad crossing in Holbrook. The closure is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, through Tuesday, Oct. 25. The BNSF crossing is beyond its service life and needs to be replaced. HUSD #3 will be contacting and working with parents and staff that will be impacted by the closure to accommodate travel routes to and from school on Monday, October 24th and Tuesday, October 25th. School will remain in session but parents may choose to have their students on an ITM day (at-home learning) or bussing will be provided through the McLaws to Joe City route. More information will be communicated to parents that live south of the railroad tracks in the coming days! Thanks for your understanding!

Child Tax Credit! As part of the State of Nutrition Action Committee (SNAC) in partnership with Code for America, the Arizona Department of Education (ADE) Health and Nutrition Services is sharing important information about the 2021 Child Tax Credit and encourages operators to share this information with every household. There are approximately 62,000 children in Arizona who have yet to be claimed for this tax credit for 2021. There’s still time to claim the Child Tax Credit. Families can receive up to $3,600 for each child. Most families are eligible for this credit! Access It: Families can claim their child tax credit by going to www.getCTC.org/az
